Rain by Cynthia Barnett

Meeting the American author, Cynthia Barnett during the 18th International River Symposium in Brisbane, Australia. 

She was one of the keynote speakers and also launched her book entitled, RAIN - A Natural and Cultural History.

From the author herself, she explained that the book is elemental, mysterious, precious, destructive. It is the subject of countless poems and paintings; the top of the weather report; the source of the world's water. Rain is also a travelogue, taking readers to Scotland to tell the surprising story of the mackintosh raincoat, and to India, where villagers extract the scent of rain from the monsoon-drenched earth and turn it into perfume. 

The book is one of the finalists for the 2015 National Book Awards. Check it out HERE.

National Bookstore joins Manila International Book Fair 2012

Not to miss the book signing sessions of local and international writers. Personally, I am looking forward to meet the Fil-Canadian author, Jennifer Hillier and hopefully grab a copy of one of her suspense-thriller novels, Creep and have it sign. Aside from booksigning, National Book Store is also giving away an iPad unit for valued customers who visited its booth during the book fair.

Ambeth Ocampo: A Filipino Writer's book signing at Powerbooks

AMBETH OCAMPO IS A FILIPINO HISTORIAN, a well-known journalist and currently a professor of Ateneo de Manila University's History Department is having a booksigning at Powerbooks in Trinoma shopping mall (Quezon City, Philippines) on the 24th June 2011. Powerbooks organised this Ocampo's talk and booksigning in celebration of Jose Rizal's 15oth birthday anniversary. (Click the left image for details).

Ambeth is also invited to give a lecture at Ayala Museum, Makati (Philippines) on the 25h June. His talk is entitled Mukhang Pera: Banknotes and Nation. There is a fee of PHP350, inclusive for museum admission and a complimentary book of Ocampo, entitled Meaning and History - The Rizal Lectures.
